Mercedes ‘Metsing’ Valle
Mercedes “Metsing” Valle of Lihu‘e passed away on Dec. 21, 2021, at the age of 92. She was born in Pangasinan, Philippines, on June 19, 1929, and was a housewife.
She was preceded in death by parents Geronimo and Lorenza Gagelonia and husband Graciano Valle.
She is survived by son Arnold Vale.
Friends may visit with the family Thursday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa, followed by a burial at Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park in Lihu‘e. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, masks and social distancing are required.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
Hilda Takako Nemoto Michioka
Hilda Takako Nemoto Michioka, 91, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 30, 2021, in Lihu‘e. She was born on July 23, 1930 in Honolulu, and was a public health nurse supervisor for the state of Hawai‘i.
She was preceded in passing by husband Allen Shigeyuki Michioka, son Cory Michioka and parents Yaichiro and Tsuma Nemoto.
She is survived by children Blaine (Jeane) Michioka, Cheryl (Stanley Okuhara) Michioka and Lauren Michioka, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Private services were held by the family. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
