Congratulations, Mike Tresler and the Kapa‘a High School Warrior football team, on earning the Hawai‘i High School Athletic Association Division II state championship following an exciting (Coach Orlando “O” Anaya was so excited about that 98-yard up-the-middle touchdown by Solomone Malafu!) 61-7 win over Kamehameha Schools-Maui on O‘ahu!

Mahalo, Manny Henriques (Kapa‘a trainers Samantha Henriques and Chris Ang got to work that game!) for getting some pictures to TGI. Dr. Monty Downs (he texted, “We smashed them!” on the flight updates) had to come back on an earlier flight due to work, but the team was greeted with a water cannon arch by the Lihu‘e Airport Crash Fire Rescue team, definitely excitement on the “observed” New Year!
Kudos to Rose Batangan of Rose’s Pinoy Favorites (could that have been inspiration for the recent “A Taste of Japan” section in Times Supermarket with foods from the Don Quijote Group?), and Kukui Grove Center’s Melissa McFerrin-Warrack (she broke away from a meeting to thank the audience) for coordinating the Rizal Day celebration.
What? Lion John Ochoco (miss out, Ernie Domingo and Skippa Caycayon) won a prize? And Charlmaine Bulosan?
The event closed a year of cultural events at KGC. Even Laurie Ho and Bev Pang came out to dine at Deli &Bread Connection for the event, and Mrs. Claus and her bevy of princesses were long gone back to the North Pole.
Now, what’s on tap for the Pau Hana Market that takes place Monday starting at 3:30 p.m?
