PRINCEVILLE — The Kaua‘i North Shore Lions Club is hosting its annual golf tournament for scholarships at the Makai Golf Course in Princeville on Jan. 8, with lots of prizes and fun.
All of the proceeds from the tournament go to scholarships for Kaua‘i North Shore students for use in education beyond high school.
Advance registration is available through the North Shore Lions’ website, kauainorthshorelions.org. Through the website, people are able to register a team, co-sponsor a hole, or pay online under the “Golf Tournament” menu item.
The tournament is a Florida best ball team scramble, with contests for straightest drive, hit the green, closest to the pin and more, including a $25,000 hole-in-one contest. Entries into these contests are available for purchase on the website, or during golf-day registration.
Golf-day registration starts at 6:45 a.m. with starts from the first and 10th tees. The tournament will be played with tee times due to COVID-19 health and safety rules. Tee times start at 7:40 a.m. and continue through 1 p.m.
Entry fee is $125 and includes lunch and lucky-ticket drawings.
In addition to golf, the Kaua‘i North Shore Lions will also feature a live helicopter golf-ball drop. Golf balls for this event start at $10 per ball and are available through the website or at the registration desk on golf day. During last year’s golf-ball drop, the winner walked off with $1,200.
