LIHU‘E — The Kuhio Highway southbound contraflow will not run Monday, Dec. 27. The contraflow crew is isolating due to potential COVID exposure, pending test results.
Roadwork across the island by both the county and state will continue this week.
There will be no daytime roadwork scheduled on Friday, Dec. 31 in observance of New Year’s Day, unless permitted.
Kuhio Highway special-use lanes will not be operational, according to the state Department of Transportation.
Kapa‘a
• Portions of Kapa‘a will be closed from Dec. 27 to Dec. 30, from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., for the Kawaihau-Hau‘a‘ala Mailihuna Complete Streets Project.
The work includes grading, installation of drain lines and sidewalk construction in the vicinity of the Hau‘a‘ala Road, Kolohala Road, Mailihuna Road and Kawaihau Road intersection.
There will be single-lane closures on Mailihuna and Kawaihau roads. On Dec. 29, Hau‘a‘ala Road will be closed for work. A temporary traffic detour route will be available through Kolohala.

• A right-shoulder closure and narrowed lanes of Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between mile markers 5.7 and 6.6, in the vicinity of Leho Drive and Kapa‘a bypass road takes place today through Friday, Dec. 31, 24 hours a day, for road and shoulder work.
Anahola
• A shoulder closure and lane shift on Kuhio Highway in the southbound direction between the vicinity of milepost 12 sign to Kukuihale Road takes place today through Friday, Dec. 31, 24-hours a day, to allow crews to work without lane closures.
