LIHU‘E — Kaua‘i High School runners Brennen Corregedore is the Kaua‘i Interscholastic Federation boys champion, and Emma Burgess is the KIF girls champion, and lead the KIF Cross Country All- Stars who were announced Monday through Island School.
“Per the KIF Constitution regarding All-Star aelection, the top six individual boys and girls finishers at the KIF championship meet will be recognized as KIF All-Stars,” said Michelle Jona, Island School athletic director.
Based on this criteria, Island School has four boys on the All-Star squad, with Kaua‘i and Waimea high schools placing one runner apiece on the team.
Corregedore as the boys champion leads the list, followed by Island School runners Christian Carrington, Kai Spindt, Ryan Stevens, Avinash Srikanth and Waimea runner Isaac Funtanilla.
For the girls, Kaua‘i High placed three runners on the All-Star list followed by Kapa‘a getting two spots, and Waimea High School placing a single runner.
Burgess, completing the season in the consistent No. 1 position and the KIF girls champion, is followed by fellow Red Raider Kamaira Silva, Kapa‘a’s Jessica Drent and Sage Hoffman, Kaua‘i’s Coral Turner and Waimea’s Aliyah Taba.
Island School boys, consistent top finishers through the KIF season, are the KIF boys team champion, and the Kaua‘i High School girls, battling with the Warrior wahine through the season, emerged as the KIF girls team champion.
