Emily R. Barretto
Emily R. Barretto, 94, of Kapa‘a, passed away at Kaua‘i Care Center on Dec. 11, 2021. She was born in New Mill, on April 12, 1927, and was a dedicated homemaker and known as the pastele and gandule rice lady.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Carlota Rivera, husband Frank F. Barretto Sr., son Dennis Barretto, grandson Travis Barretto and granddaughter Lani Lynn Barretto.
Emily is survived by her seven children Frank F. (Liz) Barretto, Ronald Barretto Sr., Roy (Brenda) Barretto, Alberta (Steven) Pimental Sr., Sharleen Ornellas, Alison Sanchez, Judy (John) Vegas, sister Margret Toleroc of O‘ahu, 22 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2022, at St. Catherine Church with viewing from 8 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kealia Cemetery.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nancy Gambeng Cuadro
Nancy Gambeng Cuadro, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 3, 2021, at the age of 65. She was born in Ilocos Norte, Philippines on June 21, 1956, She was a homemaker.
Nancy was preceded in death by parents Nemecio and Concepcion Gambeng, husband Ricarte Cuadro and brother Wilfred Gambeng.
Nancy is survived by sons Renald (Keidy Agcaoili) Cuadro, Russel (Sherry Ann) Cuadro, Ralen Cuadro, daughter Karen (Dionie) Ruiz, brothers Franklin (Yolanda) Gambeng, Edwin (Aniceta) Gambeng, Jeffrey (Melanie) Gambeng Sr., sisters Leticia (Amado) Gamiao, Marlyn (Alipio) Domingo and Evangeline (Samuel) Gasmen
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2021, at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary, Koloa. Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., with services following at 12:45 p.m.
Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
