Happy birthday, Ed Kawamura Sr.!
He got a special Tire Warehouse face mask delivered by Sharron Weber, who made a special trip to get the mask and deliver it to Ed, who was busy working on chainsaws (we had a lot of wind and rain over the past couple of weeks!) at M. Kawamura Farm Enterprises in Lihu‘e.
Happy birthday, too, Kimberly Hope, who was joined by her longtime violin sister Katherine Stennett and one of Kimberly’s students in playing music for the Pau Hana Market on Monday at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
If there was a percussion set, maybe Ellie Vela, a student at Stanford University, might have joined the duo after enjoying his Shakti Indian Cuisine dish (Shakti’s Opinder Deol was thrilled to learn Miss India was crowned Miss Universe via Fox Live).
OK, now how many different kinds of curry are there?
Kimberly also announced her schedule of in-person and virtual performances for the holiday season that includes a 6 p.m. performance this Saturday at the KGC food court stage, and another round of Christmas caroling with Katherine at the next Pau Hana Market (Mondays starting at 3 p.m.).
Congratulations to “Bringing back the aloha,” Kapa‘a High School royalty, on being present at the season-ending Kapa‘a football victory — Homecoming queen Aliyah Silva, king Kawika Rogers and escort Kelci Kimura-Masada!
And more kudos to Peaches of Little Pea, who returns with her Pop Up Holiday Market with more than 20 vendors and the silent auction benefiting Kaua‘i infant Seeley Borges, who needs a bone-marrow transplant.
Check out Little Pea on Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Kukui Marketplace (it’s in the shadow of Target!). It’s a good chance to take in the free ‘Ohana Night at the Grove Farm Museum, too.
The market continues Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the old Pier 1 location. And, yes, you do need proof of vaccine or that negative COVID-19 test to get in.
