LIHU‘E — Albert Lopez of Sweet Shop by the Sea, a little hideaway tucked behind Hele On Bikes in Kapa‘a, said he’ll definitely be participating Friday and Saturday when Little Pea returns with the Pop Up Holiday Market at the Kukui Marketplace in Lihu‘e.
“We had a lot of fun during the last Pop Up,” Lopez said, Saturday while participating in the pop-up marketplace in front of Small Fry Kaua‘i at the Kukui Grove Center. “I’m so glad Peaches asked us to come back. This is going to be a lot of fun, again.”
Peaches, the coordinator for the last Pop Up Holiday Market that helped the Kaua‘i Hospice, said this weekend’s marketplace will feature more than 20 vendors offering crafts, jewelry, and other retail items suited for gift-giving. The market also serves as a fundraiser for Seeley Borges, a Kaua‘i infant, now nearly two months old and recently featured on television news, who is afflicted with leukemia.
“She needs a bone marrow match,” Peaches said. “We’re going to have on-site donor match registry and swab tests. Additionally, a silent auction will benefit her and her family for medical expenses as Seeley undergoes chemotherapy at a hospital on O‘ahu.”
The Pop Up Holiday Market opens Friday from 2 to 8 p.m., and then again, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission to the Pop Up Holiday Market is free, but in accordance with the current COVID-19 rules and guidelines, admission is by proof of vaccination or a negative test from a COVID-19 test. Shoppers must wear a face mask indoors, and be encouraged to social distance to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus and its associated variants.
