LIHU‘E – The state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported 12 new cases of COVID-19 on Kaua‘i on Thursday.
Thursday’s cases are all residents, two children and 10 are adults.
One of the cases is related to travel. The remaining 11 cases are considered community-acquired. Five of the community-acquired infections are close contacts of a previously announced case or are tied to an active cluster. The remaining six cases have no known source of infection, including two whom investigators have been unable to reach after repeated attempts or who have refused to provide information.
Thursday’s cases bring the number of active cases to 83, with 10 hospitalized, and 3,306 cumulative cases.
Free testing is available at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall in Lihu‘e weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A list of free testing locations and hours can be found at kauai.gov/COVIDtest.
Free drive-thru testing is available daily at Lihu‘e Pharmacy Group on Kolopa Street near the Puhi Safeway from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments are now required. For an appointment, register online at PreventCOVIDHI.com or call 808-635-4968.
Kaiser Permanente’s Lihu‘e Clinic accepts walk-ins or advance appointments for vaccinations for everyone 5 and up. Appointments are available at kp.org.
For those ages 5 to 11, the following locations and hours are offering the fee vaccine:
• Today, 4 to 6 p.m., Hanapepe Recreation Center;
• Saturday, 9 to 11 a.m. at Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e (for those 5 and older of any age), 10 a.m. to noon at the Hanalei Neighborhood Center and 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kilauea Neighborhood Center.
All adults are now eligible for booster doses of vaccines.
