PUHI — Timothy Takeshita and Keoki Bazard came bearing an award of $8,000 Thursday to the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i branch in the Puhi Industrial Park.
“We are committed to promoting long-term growth and prosperity in the communities we serve, all of which face some level of food insecurity,” Takeshita said.
“Often, hunger is an issue that doesn’t get the attention it deserves. We are proud to support the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i in its fight against hunger on Kaua‘i.”
The award from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation to address food insecurity on Kaua‘i is part of the company’s Fill Your Tank program that, over 10 years, will distribute approximately $115 million to larger food banks and charities throughout North America and Europe. Additionally, the funds allocations go to smaller local food banks and pantries in the communities served by Enterprise.
“People continue to pay higher prices for their food because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and unemployment in Hawai‘i remains among the highest in the nation,” said Wes Perreira, Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i manager.
“This donation from Enterprise will help us provide healthy, nutritious food to local families in need while supporting the local economy. This is a very big win for our community,” Perreira said.
