Kudos to The Salvation Army, both the Lihu‘e and Hanapepe Corps, and the Kapa‘a Interfaith Association, on making Thanksgiving special for more than 2,000 Kaua‘i residents!

And mahalo to Chris Machorek and the Sheraton Kaua‘i at Coconut Beach ‘ohana (hope Thanksgiving was great for Nicholas Lakas and his family!) for being thoughtful and serving special Thanksgiving meals for our first responders.
Yes, Domi Alayvilla, Jimmy Oyadomori teamed up with Sam Shirai to deliver Thanksgiving meals for those who were not able to attend the Kapa‘a Interfaith Association lunch in person. Linda Williams (she got to serve the drive-thru lunch diners) sends her regards to Dr. Ronald Fujimoto, who was her doctor before she went to Washington.
Ron and Laura Wiley got to do the Thanksgiving thing at the Hukilau Lanai, and mahalo to Sara Miura for those Midnight Bear treats that made the girls in the office’s day.
Mahalo, too, to Waimea Canyon Middle School teacher Megan Miller for the apple fritter that was perfect for the drive back to the office following information-gathering on the Waimea Product Fair that will feature student-produced items on display and for sale Dec. 11 at the park in the shade of the former sugar mill.
Eric Nordmeier (he’s working on the 85th anniversary of the West Kaua‘i Lions Club) was in the middle of all those Black Friday shoppers, along with Bob Bartolo (when is First Saturday starting?), and even Kapa‘a High School football team quarterback Kapono Na-o, who was getting ready to go over the mountain for the Saturday football game. Was he the one who stopped to visit with coach Tommy Rita?
