Judith Pi‘ilani Taniguchi
Judith Pi‘ilani Taniguchi passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at her residence at the age of 66. She was born on Dec. 15, 1954 in Waimea. She was a retired cafeteria associate with Waimea High School.
She was preceded in death by sons Wayne Al Martin Jr. and Shane Kaina Martin and parents Hulu and Kanani Taniguchi.
She is survived by Wayne Martin Sr. of Kalaheo, daughter Vanessa (Bud) Akana of Kekaha, grandchildren Shayna (Jim) Malina, Tristen (Bernie) Akana, Cayla (Kai Boi) Akana and Cainen Akana, great-grandchild Kaizen Kawahalao, brothers Hulu (Guylyn) Taniguchi of O‘ahu, Kenneth (Susan) Taniguchi of Kapa‘a and Jerry Anthony Taniguchi of Waimea, sisters-in-law Phyllis (Manuel) Andrade of Lawa‘i, Valerie (Ronald) Perreira of Kalaheo and Eileen (Jim) Endicott, cousins Ulu (Howard) Perreira of Kalaheo, Ala Nizo, Ruth Naumu, Heidi Kaohi and Carmelita Haumea, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19, a walk-thru visitation is Saturday, Dec. 4, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a celebration of life to follow, at the Garden Island Mortuary chapel. The family suggests casual attire and welcomes flowers.
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Benito Ramos Bombay
Benito Ramos Bombay, 83, formerly of Kapa‘a, passed away at his home in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on Nov. 16, 2021. He was born on Nov. 25, 1937 and was a retired maintenance man.
He was preceded in death by wife Aurora Afaga Bombay, parents Isidoro and Apolonia Bombay, sisters Gony (Arthur) Komori, Linda (Ben) Dacay and Carmelina (Baldomero) Retana.
He is survived by son Sam (Justina) Bombay, daughters Myrna (David) Masuda, Eden (Tim Fabiana) Delos Santos and Loida Levinthol, sister Eugeniana (Ong Hioun) Bombay Ong, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 20 at the Bombay Residence in Barangay 32, Corocor, Bacarra, Philippines.
Jennie Sachiko Nomi
Jennie Sachiko Nomi passed away on Saturday, Nov. 13, 2021, at the age of 73, at Wilcox Medical Center.
She was born on June 20, 1948 in Lihu‘e. She was a retired elementary-school teacher at Hanalei School.
She was preceded in death by daughters Marje Lynn Nomi and Lindsey Alison Nomi and parents Tunichi and Toshie Iida.
She is survived by husband Marvin Nomi of Kapa‘a, son Jason Scott Nomi of Miami, Florida, daughter Jodie M. (Ben) Owen of Kaua‘i, grandchildren Siena Ana Owen and Austin Lee Owen, sisters Sally Yokoto of O‘ahu, Arleen (Calvin) Fujita of Kaua‘i, Fay (John) Hanaoka of Kaua‘i and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Due to COVID-19, private services will be held at a later date. The family requests no koden (monetary gifts).
Garden Island Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vincent Sonoda
Vincent Sonoda, 76, of Koloa, passed away at Wilcox Medical Center on Nov. 13, 2021. He was born on O‘ahu on Nov. 5, 1945, and was the owner of Sonoda Brothers Drywall.
He was preceded in death by father Hari Sonoda, mother Alice (Ken) Ravencraft, and brothers Harry Sonoda, Leroy Sonoda and Noah Kauhane.
He is survived by wife Salina Sonoda, children Julian (Tony) Cedola, Wailani (Conrad) Racelo, Vincent “Buza” (Tania) Sonoda and Cassidy (Kayla) Sonoda, grandchildren Anthony Cedola, Shawnelle (Irwin) Briones, Noeau Sonoda, Kaikea Sonoda, Callie Racelo, Ma‘alea Sonoda and Chevie Sonoda, great-grandchildren Lily Briones, Logan Briones and Landon Briones, brothers Rodney (Candy) Sonoda, Mervin Kauhane and Paul “Tiny” Kauhane, sisters Alice (Dave) Morris, Ruthie (Ramon) Garza, Faith “Pinky” Leao and May Sonoda, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
Yolanda Keli‘ikuli
Yolanda Keli‘ikuli, born June 9, 1938, passed away on Sept. 12, 2021. A celebration of life is Saturday, Dec. 4, at Holy Cross Catholic in Kalaheo. Visitation with the family will be at 9 a.m. followed by Mass at 9:30 a.m. Face masks and social distancing are required.
