HONOLULU — A Hawai‘i Department of Health analysis of vaccine breakthrough data found that fully vaccinated people age 0-59 were 34 times less likely to die of COVID-19 than unvaccinated individuals.
A vaccine breakthrough infection occurs when a fully vaccinated person tests positive for SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated two weeks after completing their initial vaccine series.
Hawai‘i data on deaths that occurred from January 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021 also found that fully vaccinated people age 60 and older were nine times less likely to die of COVID-19 than unvaccinated individuals.
“Vaccines work. More than one million Hawai‘i residents have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and are well-protected against hospitalization and death,” State Epidemiologist Dr. Sarah Kemble said in a news release. “Breakthrough infections are expected because no vaccine is 100% effective, but this new data mirrors national studies that show vaccinated people are well-protected against COVID-19. DOH encourages all Hawai‘i residents 5 and older to protect themselves and their families through vaccination.”
In the January through September time period, DOH documented 36 deaths among fully vaccinated people in Hawai‘i and 146 hospitalizations. The overwhelming majority of COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths reported in the same period occurred among unvaccinated individuals.
The report states that 97% of all known breakthrough cases were not hospitalized for COVID-19.
The analysis also examined the effect of the delta variant on vaccine efficacy. While the frequency of breakthrough hospitalizations and deaths increased during the delta variant period, breakthrough events remained relatively uncommon compared to the total number of hospitalizations and deaths.
According to the report, before the delta variant, there had been only one breakthrough death in a person aged over 60. Following the emergence of the delta variant, between July and the end of September, there were 35 reported breakthrough deaths, four of which occurred in people aged under 60.
Data indicates the COVID-19 vaccines continue to provide excellent protection against severe disease and death.

Great propaganda! If what Kemble said is all true, including the fabrication that the vaccines are safe and effective, three questions:
Why the push for boosters in less than a year?
Why are the vaccinated so fearful of the unvaccinated (the unwashed)?
Why do the vaccinated still need to wear a mask?

DOH, you forgot to mention that throughout most of this time frame, the overwhelming majority of humans were not considered “fully vaccinated”. So obviously, the results will be skewed toward adverse events occurring in the “not fully vaccinated” population. This is called ‘calling the game at halftime’, and it isn’t the first time that public health officials and politicians have done it.

– Like most other vaccines (Flu, Tetanus, etc), boosters are required as viruses evolve. Some viruses like Smallpox have been almost fully eradicated so the diseases no longer evolve, but covid is new so it’s evolving quickly. That’s the power of herd immunity!
– They are fearful of any transmission, in any direction. If an unvaccinated person becomes hospitalized, that is more than just their own problem. It’s a burden on our medical system.
– Because it’s one more layer of defense until we reach higher immunity, even if breakthrough cases are rare. It’s annoying but it’s not quite like getting drafted for the military, so I think the average person doesn’t mind wearing a mask.

As for mask wearing….. 90% are wearing masks that covid passes right thru or they are not wearing them properly so we are over that craziness as well. If you want to be brainwashed to believe these things that is your choice but more and more people are over the nonsense.
Your concerns about masks are not resolved by people not wearing them at all. Also, this ain’t no cold – I invite you to try it if you don’t believe that. And smokers take a hilw to get to the point where they are hospitalized – Covid-19 does this in days, it’s a more immediate threat.

Some clarification for you:
Tetanus is not a virus. It caused by bacteria called Clostridium tetani. Tetanus vaccinations last well over a decade. I work in an industry where tetanus can be a problem and I have only had one booster recommended by an MD…and it was after almost twenty years.
Flu vaccinations are not boosters per se. Each year they are revised to be effective against new virus strains.
Smallpox has been eradicated in the US…last known case was circa 1949.
All of these vaccines, unlike the mRNA ones, are made from the actual virus or bacteria that have been killed or otherwise rendered non-lethal. This holds for the Polio vaccines (Salk & Sabin) as well.
It is widely accepted among reputable immunologists and epidemiologists that the mRNA vaccines have increased the rate at which SARS-Cov19 mutates to avoid being “killed”. Natural infection acquired immunity has a similar effect, however it is tougher for the mutations to occur because natural immunity is immunity to the entire spike protein…not just the tip of the spike which is what mRNA vaccines offer.
Throughout the entire “pandemic” the specter of overwhelmed medical facilities has been part of the fear mongering…the fact is it never happened.
There is not a single RCT (randomized controlled trial) that has shown that masks of any sort can or have stopped the spread of SARS-CoV19. In other words they don’t work for virus particles.
Finally the so called “breakthrough” cases are not rare. How else can it be explained that in countries with 80%-95% fully vaccinated (Israel, Iceland, etc.)cases & deaths are increasing.
The simple fact is that the mRNA vaccines rapidly lose efficacy…the powers that be no this, hence the push for boosters after less than a year.

The majority of people in Hawai’i have a doctor or access to medical clinics for routine medical checkups and procedures.
If you are not going to get vaccinated or have good references to why it’s not a good thing for you personally, it is up to you to decide AFTER GETTING at least a 2nd Professional opinions, be it NATURAL Doctor or general physician…..
All licensed and certified healthcare professionals dealing with the Pandemic are under an oath to God to do no harm…

Until such a time that you have completed that study, your comments are rather elementary, if not immature based on ignorance.

This information conflicts with stats from the rest of the world. Places with higher vax rates have higher deaths. CDC admits this week that vax does not prevent transmission or significantly mitigate risk of hospitalizations. This whole thing is a sham.
