LIHU‘E — All adoption fees will be waived at the Kaua‘i Humane Society this Sunday, Nov. 14, thanks to Subaru Hawai‘i’s statewide “Love in Action” donation campaign.
Walk-ins are welcome, but KHS recommends prospective adopters save time by scheduling an appointment in advance, at kauaihumane.org.
“I would start looking at our website, which has all of our adoptable dogs and cats, just so you can get an idea of what animals we have available,” Executive Director Nicole Schafer Crane said. “Getting your adoption appointment set ahead of time will ensure we can take you back immediately and start showing you some of our adoptable animals.”
Available four-legged friends included American Staffordshire and terrier mix Millie; hound mix Helga; domestic shorthair cats Spencer and Little Foot; and many, many more, as of Friday.
Adopters will receive insulated “swag bags” courtesy of Subaru Hawai‘i, filled with pet-care supplies including a collapsable water bowl, waste bags and food scoop.
Subaru Hawai‘i, which spans six dealerships including Servco Subaru Kaua‘i in Lihu‘e, is covering up to $15,000 in adoption fees at four other Humane Society locations on Hawai‘i Island, Maui and O‘ahu.
“Kaua‘i Humane Society appreciates Subaru Hawai‘i’s support in helping build families, by bringing Kaua‘i residents and the homeless pets of Kaua‘i together,” Schafer Crane said in a Subaru press release.
The car dealership network’s Love in Action campaign also produced an online video series highlighting Hawai‘i community organizations, and matched-donation opportunities for featured nonprofits Project Vision, Mana Maoli, Hui Ho‘oleimaluo and Child & Family Service.
Love in Action replaces the long-running “Share the Love Sales Event,” which generated a donation for each Subaru vehicle sold during November and December.
“Love in Action is our effort to live up to our commitment of being ‘more than a car company,’ by giving in ways that are independent of car sales and instead focuses on supporting our community partners and their vital services,” Subaru Hawai‘i Executive Vice President Peter Dames said in the release.
