Capt. Rod Green of the U.S. Marine Corps League said they’ll be collecting for this year’s Toys for Tots starting Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center on Veterans Memorial Highway. Capt. Shaun Keoho (she said the iconic Toys for Tots train will be in place by Friday for the collection) of the Salvation Army, Lihu‘e Corps has already started work on the room where the collection will be stored until after Dec. 3 when the holiday goodies start going out.

Chip Bahouth of the Sheraton Kaua‘i Resort launched his resort’s program that needed other venues of support because RumFire only recently opened to a not-full capacity. Instead, he has a collection box set up and will be offering a dollar from entrees at Lava’s (pancakes, anyone?), and 50 cents for coffee from the Link.
And don’t forget the ARC contributions because David Chung said Friday’s collection is the last one for this year because they’re going to be helping The Salvation Army with its holiday activities until they come back in January 2022.
Happy birthday, Hi‘ilei Berg (brother Kamalei is doing well at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo) on contributing nearly 1,100 pounds of rice, and nearly 400 pounds of nonperishable food to the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank (they’ve got a food distribution with Kaua‘i’s credit unions coming up at the Kaua‘i Veterans Center, Nov. 13…watch for details…they need to be pau before Capt. Green comes in with the Toys for Tots train).
OK, time to go check out the free trees at the annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway that starts at 9 a.m. at the Kalepa Road parking lot, the same one as the Pau Hana Market at the Kukui Grove Center (stick around for Kimberly Hope’s performance starting at 1 p.m.).
