LIHU‘E — In anticipation of large ocean swells this weekend and next week, Kaua‘i Fire Department Ocean Safety Bureau officials advise beach-goers to exercise caution in or near the water. “We are encouraging our beach-goers to use extra caution while on the north- and west-facing shores,” said OSB Chief David Kalani Vierra.
“Additionally, stay away from the rocky coastline areas and keep a safe distance away from the high-water line,” he said. Beach-goers are encouraged to visit lifeguarded beaches and speak with lifeguards about safe areas to swim in. “For your safety, know the conditions, know your limits, and when in doubt, don’t go out,” said Vierra.
