Today, Stacie Chiba-Miguel and Pillare Mukai are hosting a drive-thru pumpkin giveaway starting at 3 p.m. at the north parking lot at The Shops at Kukui‘ula. Then, on the North Shore, Yoshi L’Hote and the ‘Aina Ho‘okupu o Kilauea crew will do their giveaway starting at 5 p.m., until dark.
AHK will do it again on Saturday from 10 a.m., and the Grove Farm Market (will Haole Girl have the pumpkin croissants here, too? At least Nikol Nonaka will be there) will have pumpkins to give away when the air horn signals at 9:30 a.m. at the park in Puhi near Grove Farm headquarters. That’s a lot of pumpkins!
Congratulations, Josie Ogle and chef John Paul Gordon, on the opening of Table at Po‘ipu! They’ll be open starting next Wednesday through Saturday with offerings of American bistro fare and some family-style meals from 5 to 9:30 p.m. to start. John Paul said they’re waiting to open longer in the upstairs space across from Merriman’s.
Kudos to the Sea Engineering crew on the progress made at replacing the wooden pier at the Kukui‘ula Small Boat Harbor, where Marvin Otsuji said Na Holo Kai sailing-canoe races will kick in starting next year.
OK, time to go check out Freaky Fridays at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e and stop by the Usborne Books &More book fair that Sheila Bradley said this week will support Kalaheo School.
