LIHU‘E — Solomon Kanoho flashed a big grin and shaka of approval Wednesday morning as he wheeled a cartload of shopping out of the Target store located in the Kukui Marketplace, adjacent to the Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
“This is all Sue Kanoho,” Solomon said. “She found out about it Tuesday afternoon; you know, the coconut wireless.”
A floor supervisor at Target said the store had a “soft opening, unadvertised,” Wednesday, following a Tuesday evening event where the store was privately blessed before opening to employees and friends.
“The big grand opening is Sunday,” the supervisor said.
The newest Target, its eighth in Hawai‘i since 2009, will be open seven days a week. Store hours from Monday through Saturday are open at 7 a.m. until 10 p.m. Sunday hours are from 7 a.m. until 9 p.m.
“I’m so excited to share with you that Target’s new Lihu‘e Kaua‘i store is now open — bringing an easy, safe, and convenient shopping experience to the local community — with an official grand opening on Sunday,” a Target spokesperson said.
Occupying a footprint of approximately 122,000 square feet, the retailer offers apparel and accessories for the entire family, including the Aloha Shop that features swimwear and beach accessories, year-round.
A staff of approximately 170 members also care for sections offering home decor and essentials, assorted health, personal care, and beauty products, groceries, including fresh produce, grab-and-go items, snacks and meal solutions, an adult beverage assortment, a CVS pharmacy, and a Starbucks.
