Joan Emura of Kaua‘i Churros was ready for the crowd because she just learned how to do the Spanish churro.
Sheila Bradley of Usborne Books &More (they’ve got a fundraising book sale benefiting Kumu’s Cupboard coming up too!) was busy getting the book fair ready for opening on Friday, when sales support the Kalaheo School.
OK, so what is Pono Bread? Ken Kubota and David Taboniar have Pono Coffee and Bakery all decorated for Halloween. Pono Bread (Ken said he needs to check out the recipe to see what’s in the loaf that joins the shop’s lineup of taro bread, sweet bread and traditional white bread.
Ken’s brother Bob Kubota was catching up from the family’s outing to the Westside (Bob said Tommy Rita’s smoked meat is really good!) and coach Rob had his family picking up pumpkins during the Pumpkins and Treat distribution at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center.
The excitement in Kapa‘a continued as Joe “Grandpa Joe” Bodano (he had his Kamoa ‘ukulele shirt on) was busy sweeping the sidewalk outside Larry’s Music on Kuhio Highway near Pono Market.
Now it’s time to check in with Stacie Chiba-Miguel and Pillare Mukai on the Halloween doings (yeah, they have a pumpkin giveaway this Friday starting at 3 p.m. Go early before it sells out) at The Shops at Kukui‘ula.
