LIHU‘E — The state Department of Education reported 352 COVID-19 cases within schools between Sept. 17 and Sept. 23. Twenty-six of those cases were on Kaua‘i. Eight of those cases were not on campus within a week of when their cases were reported.

Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School reported five cases. Both Kaua‘i High and Kekaha reported four cases this reporting cycle.
Kapa‘a High, Kapa‘a Elementary and Wilcox Elementary School each reported three cases.
Waimea Canyon Middle School reported two cases. Hanalei and Kapa‘a Middle each reported just one case.
The DOE has seen a steady decrease in weekly case counts statewide this month. The seven-day-average case count for Hawai‘i on Sept. 1 was 876. On Sept. 23 it was 434.
