LIHU‘E — The Kaua‘i Chamber leadership, including Mark Perriello, Carol Texeira, and board president Michelle Emura accepted a $1,700 contribution from the Hawai‘iUSA FCU team on Tuesday at the credit union’s office at the Kukui Grove Center.
“We are sponsoring the Chamber’s 3rd Quarter meeting,” said Taylor Shigemoto, the HawaiiUSA FCU member engagement officer. “When we signed on, everyone thought this was going to be an in-person event at some resort location. But then, COVID-19 conditions worsened and the event turned virtual. The funds were already budgeted for the in-person event, and since the virtual event does not cost as much as the in-person event, we are donating the difference to the Kaua‘i Chamber to help them with the work they’re doing to help our businesses and economy rebound from the pandemic.”
Registration for the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce 3rd Quarter Virtual Membership Meeting is still being accepted through the Kaua‘i Chamber website kauaichamber.org.
The meeting that is being sponsored by the Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union is scheduled to air Sept. 30 at 1 p.m. via Zoom where the 2021 Mea Ho‘mana‘o Award recipients will be honored, and the 2022 Chamber Board Slate will be announced and introduced.
In a Wednesday electronic newsletter, the Kaua‘i Chamber announced that Janice Bond, Yoshito L’Hote, and Vianne Tabata are the individuals “who have demonstrated what the real meaning of the Aloha Spirit is, and going ‘above and beyond’ their normal job responsibilities.”
Registration for this event where people are able to congratulate the 2021 Mea Ho‘omana‘o recipients also includes a food certificate to Harley’s Tropical BBQ Steak &Seafood, a Hawai‘iUSA FCU member located in the Puhi Industrial Park.
