LIHU‘E — Conor Hunt, formerly of Kaua‘i and graduating from the Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy on the Big Island, was named the Patriot League Special Teams Player of the Week announced a Monday press release from the Georgetown University.
“Conor played his first college football game this past Saturday, and was recognized not only by his coaches in a post-game conference, but also by the Patriot League as a whole for his outstanding special teams play,” said Steve Hunt, Conor’s dad in a text message.
In addition to Hunt, Georgetown University’s fifth-year quarterback Joseph Brunell, and senior linebacker Justin Fonteneaux earned Patriot League Honorable Mention honors in voting by league officials.
The recognition acknowledges the players’ efforts and performances during the Georgetown University’s 20-14 overtime win at Delaware State, Saturday when Joshua Stakely ran in a 5-yard touchdown to seal the victory.
During the matchup, Hunt recorded nine punts for 375 yards averaging 41.7 yards a kick. Among the nine kicks, he had a 57-yard punt and two other kicks of at least 50 yards.
Hunt also nailed two punts that were downed inside of the 20-yard stripe, and he was successful on both of the Point After Touchdown boots.
