Aloha to Randy and Susie Yokoyama, who are moving from Kaua‘i to the main headquarters of Beck’s Hybrids in Indiana this Thursday. The aloha luncheon coordinated by Laurie Ho (the mini-farm fair would’ve been better — especially because Randy won’t be able to help with future ones) and the many Family Community Education Association Kaua‘i friends. And, as Frank Cruz of Cruz Control puts it, “mahalo, Melissa (McFerrin-Warrack), for allowing the band to provide Saturday lunchtime music.”

Mahalo, kumu Kapu Kinimaka-Alquiza and kumu Puna Dawson, for the powerful mana‘o that overflowed the studios of Na Hula O Kaohikukapulani. Did Sandy Poehnelt and company get that while enjoying a quasi day off (yes, a lot of people had to work!).
And, happy birthday, Toni Wass, who celebrated her special day at the opening reception of the Garden Isle Quilters Quilt Exhibit and Sale with birthday cake and presents at the Kaua‘i Society of Artists space at KGC.
Happy birthday, too, to Moana DeSilva-Baltazar and Skip Caycayon, who also celebrated their special day on the Admission Day holiday. Was Tommy Rita at any of those celebrations?
Kudos to Kaua‘i Community College Chancellor Joseph Daisy (he’s also anticipating the start of the fall semester today) for coming out and join the state Department of Health workers in welcoming patients to the first of three vaccine clinics offered on campus by the DOH and LCC.
Kudos also to Darnell Costales of Project Vision Hawai‘i, who went beyond the Hiehie mobile shower to help Bryden Ka‘auwai of Ho‘ola Lahui Hawai‘i with the Laukona Park vaccine clinic in Hanama‘ulu, where a lot of the young people were getting their second dose of the Pfizer vaccines, the first of which were administered at the Lihu‘e Neighborhood Center a few weeks ago. Darnell was there with her boss Grace Meek in getting out personal-hygiene kits.
