LIHU‘E — The state Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported 17 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.
Sunday’s cases consist of two visitors and 15 residents. Of the 17 new cases, three are children and 14 are adults. Five of the cases are related to travel – four mainland and one interisland. The remaining 12 cases are considered community-acquired.
Five of the community-acquired infections are close contacts of previously announced cases or are tied to one of our active clusters. The remaining seven community-acquired cases have no known source of infection.
All active cases are in isolation, and close contacts are being identified, offered testing, and directed to quarantine. Investigations are ongoing.
“Whether you’re vaccinated or not, please wear a mask,” said Dr. Janet Berreman, head of the Kaua‘i District Health Office.
“Vaccines are very effective at their most important job: preventing severe disease and death. And the delta variant is so much more transmissible that even fully vaccinated people can become infected and spread the virus to others. Masks protect us all,” she said.
Sunday’s cases bring the number of active cases to 229, with three hospitalized, and 918 cumulative cases.

46 cases on Sunday according to the Star Advertiser.
Says 14 when I looked.
“Numbers last updated on Aug. 16”
The Queen’s Health Systems has no available intensive care beds on Oahu. How is Kauai doing?
Imagine a vaccine so safe and crucial you have to be threatened, coerced and sanctioned to take it… so ‘safe’ that there HAS to be a zero liability clause in place to these vaccines so you cannot sue now or ever in the future if you have complications……to be locked down, tracked and traced for a virus so “dangerous” that you have to be tested to know if you even have it… so terminal that the ONLY medical advice given for a positive test result is to simple ‘stay home for 2 weeks’. A pandemic so unprecedented you need to be reminded of it daily with charts and numbers, but no real photo evidence…. I mean you don’t see the stuff going on in Afghanistan reported with only charts and graphs do you?… no, it’s obvious its going on with an abundance of varied video and photo evidence. But there is next to nothing regarding this ‘pandemic’ that anyone can see, yet everyone (except elites) is subject to so many conditions.
very well stated! you are 100% spot-on and make a compelling argument (=common sense!)
Aloha
4 people on Kauai have died from Covid guy. I know one of them. I’ll tell their family what trash you said.
That’s some industrial-grade Q-anon gibberish, Francis. Bravo! Now dance like a monkey for us.
I don’t know what you want to see, people gasping for air, families crying, dead people on gurneys. Unfortunately hospitals have a no visitor rule in place now and I think HIPA rights also might have something to do with it. My mother in law died from Covid, she had cancer, but the Covid took her about 3 years early.
Yeah, except for the full ICU at Straub, and Mississippi health care systems on the verge of collapse. As the un-vaxed continue to die at exponentially higher rates, who will be left to spread the word that it’s a hoax.
For those clinging to the concept that Covid 19 only kills people with underlying conditions who “would have died anyway”: What price do you put on your grandfather’s last Christmas? One more year with your mother with cancer? Your immunocompromised child? Your friend who had a kidney transplant? Your neighbor in his 70’s?
Is getting vaccinated too much of a price to pay?
Do you really think more than 600,000 people all fit into the category you consider “expendable”?
