Congratulations, Lourdes Torres and the Sustainable Boost ‘ohana on the “Grand Opening” of the Sustainable Boost factory at the Kinipopo Shopping Village where Kaua‘i County Council member Billy DeCosta got to sample a cricket (high protein, he said), and Council Chair Arryl Kaneshiro’s pride shone when he heard Dominique Chamber of Cozy Bowl (she’s a vendor at The Grove Farm Market that meets Saturdays from 9:30 a.m.) talk about the use of SB powders in creating some of her noodle creations, and real plants to color the creations…what’s this about ramen and Kaua‘i Kim Chee?

More kudos to Michael Curtis, Joe Bertucci, Laureen Naumu-Balocan (she got promoted to Tournament Director!), and many hands for hosting the 45th Hawai‘i State Senior Softball Tournament in a time where this type of play was not embraced with open arms under the conditions of COVID-19 quarantines, social distancing, face masks, and travel restrictions…mahalo, Bart Thomas (he needs volunteers to help with the two-day Veterans Day Weekend golf tournament that will play at both the Princeville Makai Golf Club and the Hokuala Ocean Course).
Coach Teddy Perreira (he plays for the Rookies) of the Department of Parks and Recreation crew got many nods of appreciation for the efforts at keeping the five fields in tip-top shape, and Judge Michael Soong could squeeze out his court calendar to take in some of the tournament games…Stel Pimental went looking for Glenn Rodero of Kawaihau with a good luck earring, and who had the pancakes from McDonald’s to celebrate the Punatics’ win on opening day?
This is a busy weekend at The Kukui Grove Center (Stacie Chiba-Miguel and Pillare Mukai are asking donations for the Visitor Industry Charity Walk in exchange for a scratch card featuring premiums from the many restaurants and shops at The Shops at Kukui‘ula during their Pop Up Farmers Market at The Shops on Wednesdays) when Gypsy Spice takes the stage Friday ahead of the pop-up showing up Saturday, and the grand opening of Rosie’s Pinoy Favorites, Sunday when the Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce partners with Rosie for their scholarship fundraiser.
