Jacqueline ‘Jackie’ Marcella McCall
Jacqueline “Jackie” Marcella McCall delighted her parents and family when she was born on a rare snowy night in Houston, Texas, Dec. 23, 1989, at 11:22 p.m. She departed this world for heaven on a beautiful starry night from Koloa at 11:22 p.m. in the company of dear friends at the age of 31 years.
Jackie was a precious gift to her family and friends in Texas, Maryland and New York. She also had a large ‘ohana in Kaua‘i with members from Seasport Divers, the Grand Hyatt, and the local surfing and fishing community. She was a well-known dive instructor who shared her great love for the sea with everyone she met. She was also a Prep Chef at the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i Resort & Spa, where she was deeply loved and treasured, contributing an original dish to the menu at Tidepools restaurant.
Jackie was a beautiful person filled with love, joy, kindness, strength, insight, creativity and boundless energy. Most importantly, Jackie was accomplished at living and loving life.
Jackie was preceded in death by her grandparents Robert M. McCall, Jaqueline Joy McCall, Byrdine Grime McCall, Louis Antonio Ruiz Sr. and Marcella Olivares Ruiz and her uncle Richard Olivares Suarez.
She is survived by her parents Michael R. McCall and Linda Ruiz McCall, her sisters Angelina “Lena” Michelle McCall and Alexandra “Alex” Louise McCall, her niece Lillian Louise Johnson, her uncles Daniel McCall, Bill Wilson, Vince Manning, Alan Prybylo and Louis Ruiz Jr., her aunts Claudia Wilson, Melinda McCall, Contessa McCall and Rose Ruiz Manning, her cousins Ellie Wilson, Annie Wilson, Ivan Prybylo, Dylan McCall, Dawson McCall, Robert Ruiz and Susan Groeneveld.
Jackie’s friends and ‘ohana are invited to join her memorial at Borthwick Kaua‘i Mortuary in Koloa on Tuesday, Aug. 3, with viewing at 11:30 a.m. and services at 1:30 p.m. Casual and aloha attire are welcome as you desire. A paddle-out celebration of her life will be held at Kukui‘ula Harbor on Saturday, Aug. 7, beginning at 3 p.m., with the scattering at sunset which Jackie loved so well.
