Jennifer, one of the Big Brothers Big Sisters caseworkers, said Erin Gaines is the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kaua‘i regional director after Nicole Cowan (the last Big Brothers Big Sisters event was the drive-by birthday in Kekaha!) was promoted to a state-level position. And, the good thing is that she still is here! Kudos to the new promotees!
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Kaua‘i has Restaurant Week coming up in August, where people are able to support not only Big Brothers Big Sisters but the participating restaurants as well. The week is Aug. 22 to 29 at restaurants from Hanalei to Waimea. A full list of the 16 participating restaurants (some even have special Restaurant Week specials!) is available at bbbshawaii.org/rwkauai.
Shark teeth (sunrise shell jewelry-maker Juliana Estep of Shell of a Life says it’s surf and shells and, now, shark teeth!) get tartar like dog teeth? A shopper at the monthly Kaua‘i Made craft fair was discussing the topic before heading off to Hanapepe for some diving. There was no farmers’ market because it rained at the Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort in Waipouli (Barbara Gusman had market duty of checking temperatures and making sure face masks got worn indoors).
It’s not a market unless Patrice Pendarvis is doing plein air work, and she was out in The Crooked Surf (gotta check out Moamoa, too) overflow doing work on a class project that sure looked like the Kalalea mountains. Or, was it the light?
