Congratulations, Mel Chiba, Taylor Shigemoto, Morgan Moises Lopez and Karen Shigemoto, on the opening of the Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union in Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e (when does the signup for a chance at that Yeti cooler end?), where even the Kaua‘i Chamber of Commerce’s Mark Perriello and Carol Texeira left the safety of working remotely to do in-person congratulations.

Hawai‘iUSA FCU is one of the sponsors for this year’s Back to School Bash, and Melissa McFerrin-Warrack of KGC said online registration for this year’s event starts today at kukuigrovecenter.com. Don’t be late. The event has been booked solid for every year it’s been held!
Kudos to the Old Kapa‘a Town Business Hui and artist Caleb Aero on their latest endeavor of getting art out to enhance the town. Caleb has an amazingingly long history of good artwork (see that mural on the Kaneshiro Ranch building?) that includes more than 11 food trucks and a bunch of camouflage-style paint jobs. What a caravan that would make!
The project joins the Mo‘olelo Murals (Bree Blake has been working hard now that visitors are back!) effort at doing murals (Bethany Coma said you need to be on Rice Street to see the birds on those utility boxes!) around town. Bev Brody of Get Fit Kaua‘i (did you find the lettuce at the Pau Hana Market?) said maybe the Lihu‘e Loop “scavenger hunt” will involve some of the artwork.
OK, take out the computer and sign up for this year’s Back to School Bash. You don’t want to be left out!
