HANALEI — Encouragement to buy locally to support a leading hunger-relief organization is a phenomenal way to build relisiency, said Tisha Ruiz of the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch.
Recently, the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch received a delivery of 1,344 pounds of nonperishable food that was a result of the partnership between the Rotary Club of Hanalei Bay and the Hanalei Business Association for the Hanalei Bucks program, which has a goal to help replenish Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch food supplies while supporting Hanalei small businesses.
The resulting total of more than 1,300 pounds was derived from food-collection sites located at the Ching Young Village Shopping Center and Kilauea farmers’ market.
“We were blown away by this innovative program and how successful it proved to be,” Ruiz said.

That’s great. Can foods for the summer or winter. Investing in Hanalei. I think Kauai is spiritual. Too cool!
