LIHUE — The state Department of Transportation has modified the schedule for the single-lane public access to Kuhio Highway on either side of the Hanalei Bridge, effective last week.

The Saturday, Sunday and state-holiday schedules remain the same, as follows:
Saturdays: 5:30 to 8 a.m., 8:30 to 9 a.m., 9:30 to 10 a.m., 10:30 to 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to noon, 12:30 to 1 p.m., 1:30 to 2 p.m., 2:30 to 3 p.m., 3:30 to 4 p.m., 4:30 to 5 p.m. and 5:30 to 11 p.m.
Sundays and state holidays: 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
The public-access schedule will continue to be posted at hidot.hawaii.gov/2021-hanalei-hill-landslide/.
As a reminder, the single-lane access with alternating traffic control lead by an escort vehicle is necessary until the slope is stabilized above and below Kuhio Highway at mile marker 1.
Also, the following weight restrictions are in effect: 10 tons, Kuhio Highway between Hanalei Plantation Road and the Hanalei Bridge; 15 tons, Hanalei Bridge.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution and patience for everyone’s safety.
The bus leaves Hanalei on the 00:15 and Princeville going down the hill on 00:44.
