I love and miss Rush Limbaugh very much. Please log onto YouTube and search William Shatner vs. Rush Limbaugh. This short video is what inspired me to write the following.
Hawai‘i, Kaua‘i and Democrat government mandates, not laws enacted by Congress or state legislation, are made to disguise what government and bureaucracies are really about.
It isn’t to keep us safe, it’s for the sole purpose to control Americans and how we live our lives.
It is the total opposite of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
Government is a necessary evil to do those things which we cannot do for ourselves, such as utilities, road systems, basic infrastructure, keeping us safe from domestic and foreign aggression.
There’d be less for the police to enforce if we were allowed to arm ourselves. We can’t be trusted to do that, thus allowing those who commit evil to gun down defenseless people at will; San Jose 5/25/21, nine dead. The Second Amendment, if allowed to be followed, would be the biggest deterent to crime, causing criminals to pause before commiting robbery, looting and murder.
Whether it be health care, a pandemic, self-defense, education or any other necessity of life, the government is dead set on controlling the American public.
Only the government (sarcasm on my part) knows and understands what’s best for us because we can’t figure it out and, according to the government, we don’t possess the common sense which our Creator bestowed on us to live our lives in an orderly and safe manner.
Republicanism is freedom to do what’s right in every circumstance (intelligence guided by experience), possessing a moral compass (Judeo-Christian principles laid out in God’s word) to guide how we should live and conduct ourselves.
Republicanism is limited government, free trade and open markets not encumbered by government over-regulation and heavy taxes.
Republicanism recognizes that the wages we earn or the business we build don’t belong to the government; they belong to us; we created them, not the government.
Government should receive a mere token and/or pittance in tax revenue compared to what they pilfer from the American public, corporations and small business.
Government has been successful in laying a guilt trip on America, making us feel that we are the greedy ones, that we don’t deserve to keep what we earn, that we don’t own our businesses, our families, our churches and our very lives.
Republicanism is self-reliance, not reliance on government.
Besides loving and missing Rush, I miss President Ronald Reagan (Ronaldus Magnus), who said:
1. “One of the traditional methods of imposing statism or socialism on a people has been by way of medicine. It’s very easy to disguise a medical program as a humanitarian project.” – 1961
2. “Government is like a baby: An alimentary canal with a big appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.” – 1965
3. “Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.” – 1981
4. “We are a nation that has a government — not the other way around. And this makes us special among the nations of the Earth. Our Government has no power except that granted it by the people. It is time to check and reverse the growth of the government which shows signs of having grown beyond the consent of the governed.” – 1981
Finally, America is not a democracy, it’s a republic. America is a constitutional republic whose leaders are elected democratically; who in turn represent us to do our bidding, not the other way around. They are responsible to us, we’re not responsible to them.
A people governed by democracy alone are a people who are governed by mob rule. The U.S. Constitution is a document that limits government, not allowing them to control our lives. The U.S. Constitution is what makes it possible for us to exercise our freedom.
This is why people, legally or illegally, migrate to the United States of America. Our U.S. Constitution is what allows men who started with nothing to create jobs, prosper, making us the land of opportunity. Opportunity isn’t guaranteed. It can only exist and prosper in a constitutional republic, guarding against government intrusion and tyranny. This is American exceptionalism.

Steve Yoder is a resident of Wailua Homesteads.
Amen!!
Steve Yoder rhapsodizes about an ideal republicanism that doesn’t exist, and couldn’t even if Saint Ronnie and Porky Limbaugh were exhumed and their DNA used to clone millions of little Ronnie’s and Rush’s in Steve’s and his friends’ best fever dream. Because there is no Republicanism, there is only Trumpism. It has nothing whatsoever to do with the values of a republic, nor Republican values. Saint Ronnie wouldn’t recognize it; Rush long ago abandoned whatever principles he had to feed the beast. The truth is Trump’s got the party of “patriots” twisted in knots—flouting the Constitution, abrogating their values, fomenting insurrection, choking on it’s own bile. You can’t know which end is up if you allow a wanna-be despot con man to tell you what truth is. Lose the illusion, Steve. Wake up and smell the maga. It stinks. From the head down.
Interesting views. I like engineers? It is the engineers in public works for the state that is making the money. Why politics on your view? Barack Obama doesn’t make sense with Joe Biden. That is not where the money is at. If I was working for public works, I’d be making $110,000 dollars a year as a state engineer. What’s politics got to do with this? Stick to the fundamentals of wisdom, and you’ll win.
Keep religion out of government it has no place there. It also doesn’t belong in this article. And no most people can’t think for themselves that’s why religion exists its the original government control.
Stop publishing this guy. At least put the VOICES note on the headline so everyone will expect his trash opinions.
Religion was removed from government, just like your reply says it should be. The proof is clear: we now have a Godless government governed by a Godless leader. And as soon as Godless people can get rid of that pesky freedom of speech stuff (sarcasm intended), then God can more easily be removed from articles like this, just like you say He should be. How you can exist above ground in the light amazes me.
Whose God are you referring to? The Hindu God, the Buddhist God, or any number of other mythical Gods? Folks believe in different Gods. Don’t assume they believe in the same one that you do, or believe in any God for that matter.
True dat!
Some of us, Mr. Yoder, do NOT miss Rush, nor Reagan, as you do. Rather, exactly WHY your other party members are criminalizing giving WATER to people standing IN LINE, waiting to vote. You can guess why voting lines have been getting LONGER over the past few elections, due to Yoder’s pals literally making it more difficult to cast your vote. So, cut the BS about government and what they are responsible for doing! Something you might support would be having republican state governments actually make it easier for someone to cast a vote, instead of beating the “voter fraud” dead horse that has already been proven to be FALSE!
OMG, let me be the first to say Mr Yoder, you lost me in the first sentence of your diatribe.
Your republican party is now nothing but a mouthpiece for the former guy and Putin.
I lost whatever delusion I had about the Republican after 1/6 being any kind of rational political party participating in American democracy.
What I find most fascinating is how on one hand they object to the government telling us to cover our face to protect each other but then pass laws to mandate the intrusion into the very bodies of women!
It’s the Republicans who wants to reach into our very bedrooms and bodies yet scream government intrusion on public health.
I am sorry Mr Yoder but I find your views and ideas expressed in this article to be not only vile, wrong, misleading but also extremely dangerous.
“William Shatner vs. Rush Limbaugh”. (?) “Government is a necessary evil” (Thomas Paine, Common Sense ok…) “There’d be less for the police to enforce if we were allowed to arm ourselves.” (ummm, go get a gun at the store) “Ronaldus Magnus”(cult-like worship of Ronald Reagan) “America is not a democracy, it’s a republic. ” (Sen. Mike Lee of Utah tweeted, simply, “We’re not a democracy.”) Fake News Loser worship. I think people are drinking and sending in Editorials…this guy regurgitates fake news propaganda. But in our democratic republic we have free-speech, so have at it bro.
JHC! Yoder. There you go again. I appreciate your passion but you like too many others are spewing dangerous bile – trying to manufacture concrete facts out of your 1000% OPINION.
TGI should check themselves before allowing this to be released into the world. It’s factually incorrect and dangerously detrimental. I’m sorry you don’t like the way things are but whining about it over and over doesn’t resolve anything. And ya, anyone who thinks more guns and less guns laws is what we need in this country needs to read the US constitution and understand it’s meaning and stop hiding behind their own personal fears and insecurity and using guns as a excuse and fear tactic. Government helps folks in need and takes care of people in crisis. Every man for themselves theory was proven wrong well before the Neanderthal days, Steve. Where have you been? You don’t need to fear Government, you need to fear that makeshift wanna-be pretend militia that thinks they know more than college educated citizen elected government representatives. Like I tell my kids – in society, we’re either all going to just kill each other, or we’re going to find a way to work things out, live together in a civilized society and survive. Two choices. I’m a survivor. BTW – USA is a Democratic Republic, like for the past 245 years or so… although these terms could be very confusing for some. Enough already!!!
You forgot one thing in your weird litany of republicanism: ‘Republicanism supports insurrection’. There…
Not mine
You are a true Patriot Steve! Thank you for your great comments and common sense!! Unfortunately, people believe what they want to believe, and right now “free” stuff and Socialism is gaining popularity. Why? Because of our growing populations of illegals, uneducated losers, and profound simpletons, all of whom call themselves “Liberals”. The one way ticket to hell !
mAhalo Steve Yoder! I cannot tell you how often TGI has dismissed my “diatribes or bile”. There is no color or creed in any of this kukai. Narcissists vs Empaths, eVil vs gOOd! Divine Intervention REquired, due to there being too many ignorameous jerks that had narcissistic jerk parents and grandparents long before and pre-baby boomer. I learned the hard way, but at least i learned! One lie begets millions of liars who will not take responsibility for the mess that has developed throughout the world! Mob and criminal mentality that has fostered this level of Hewa Loa!
Speaking of uneducated losers, where did you get your degree? Kapaa middle school?
I thought it was the former guy who ‘loved the uneducated’, so is he one of you ‘liberals’?
RIGHT ON!
This is an utterly lazy piece of faux intellectualism that parrots talking points with no evidence to back them up. I am a Libertarian and aghast at both the Republicans and their embrace of authoritarianism and the Democrats embrace of the nanny state. But let’s dig into Steve’s emotional talking points.
“There’d be less for the police to enforce if we were allowed to arm ourselves. We can’t be trusted to do that, thus allowing those who commit evil to gun down defenseless people at will”
– This is a verifiably false statement as our nation is safer than it ever has been. You are using fear, not facts, to influence legislation without any clear understanding of the consequences. You point to a single instance of gun violence as your evidence and not actual statistics. This is a lazy argument for lazy people who only wish to complain.
“Republicanism is freedom to do what’s right in every circumstance (intelligence guided by experience), possessing a moral compass (Judeo-Christian principles laid out in God’s word) to guide how we should live and conduct ourselves.”
Who defines whats right? If you mean yourself, because you were running for government, then you mean the government which your whole argument is railing against how the government is defining our morals. Furthermore, why are you saying that Judeo-Christian principles should guide how someone lives their life. Again, you are telling someone how to live their life and your whole argument is that we should have the freedom to decide that for ourselves. It sounds like you just want people to live how you want them to live and not how the government wants them to live. Same wine, different bottle.
“Republicanism is limited government, free trade and open markets not encumbered by government over-regulation and heavy taxes.”
– Overwhelming support for an ever expanding military budget, trade wars, and perverse subsidies and regulations for special interests make this demonstrably false.
“Republicanism recognizes that the wages we earn or the business we build don’t belong to the government; they belong to us; we created them, not the government.”
– No, you are conflating Libertarianism and Republicanism. I would prefer my taxpayer funds would not go to bombs falling on families in the middle east, bailing out inefficient corporations, and still making me pay for other people’s medical bills while opposing open insurance markets to protect the party donors.
Steve Yoder, all talk, but when it comes down to it. He just wants you to do what HE wants and not the government.
Democrats not democracy is going to ruin the USA.
They are making the citizens dependent on government. Making them lazy.
That’s why businesses cannot find workers. Govt. gave too much (more than those that worked) and that is why no one wants to work. If unemployment benefits are not taxed, then those that worked throughout the pandemic should not be taxed also.
Democrats let go the dangerous criminals while locking up those that don’t want to wear a mask (that’s really dangerous, sarcasm.)
I’ve already accepted death of the USA cause that what democrats are doing, killing the USA from the inside. No need worry about other countries.
GOD bless AMERICA, cause it’s no longer a Christian Country (even YWCA is infiltrated, since when does a Christian organization promote what the Bible is against?!)
Amazing that this guy even got 27% of votes in the last election! LOL
Is this the same Steve Yoder who runs for office every few years and loses? Does he ever get sick of losing?
Constitutional Republic definition:
“A form of government in which a representative is elected by the people to govern over them, according to the rules established in the law of the land”
A pure democracy would be a form of government in which the leaders, while elected by the people are not constrained by a constitution as to its actions. Majority rules, period.
The Bill of Rights protects American citizens not from some foreign invading Army, but from their own government, specially the federal government.
Now why would the founders put that in

Mr Yoder, April Fool’s was a few months ago.
Yoder, along with a few others are fools for all months, all seasons, and not just April!
Trust NONE of them.
