Phillip J Kamakea
Phillip J Kamakea, of Kalaheo, peacefully joined the Lord on May 20, 2021, at the age of 79. He was born in Honolulu and retired with McBryde Sugar Plantation.
Phillip was preceded in death by parents Thomas Suprimedio, Louisa Kamakea and daughter-in-law Angeline “Gigie” Kamakea.
Phillip leaves behind his loving wife Patricia Kamakea, daughter Rose (Carlos) Kamakea-Colon of Florida, sons Phillip (Patti) Kamakea, David Kamakea, Kalani (Trisha) Kamakea, all of Kaua‘i, 14 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Kauai Memorial Gardens Funeral Home with viewing from 9 to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at 11:15 a.m. at Kauai Memorial Gardens.
Walter Silva
Walter Silva passed away on June 6, 2020, at the age of 83. He was born on July 1, 1936, in Makaweli. He was a Veteran of the U. S. Army and retired as a plumber.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents John, Sr. and Ethel Silva, brothers Franklin Silva, S. and Leonard Silva.
Walter is survived by his wife Jasmine Lopez-Silva, sons Duane (Cathie) Silva of Fairwood, Washington, John (Tami) Cummings III of Kapa‘a, Maluhia (Nikki) Cummings of Puyallup, Washington, daughters Lynn (Chuck) Talbert of Mapel Valley, Washington, Christel (Antonio) Pope of Makaweli, Lapule (George) Valente of Makaweli, Joanna Silva of Covington, Washington, 25 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, brothers John (Irene) Silva Jr. of Mililani, Antone Roy Silva of Hawai‘i, Richard Silva of Kalaheo, sister-in-law Bernice Silva of Makaweli, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be held on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Kauai Veteran Center with a walk-through visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Service at 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. There will be a private scattering of ashes. Due to COVID-19, limited seating is available. Social distancing and a mask is required.
Lillian Vasques
On Wednesday, April 14, 2021, our beloved Lillian Vasques passed away at the age of 88, at Kauai Care Center, Waimea.
Known and loved by many, Lillian had a passion for playing music in the church choirs and volunteering at as many of St. Catherine’s events as she could. She would always find a way to help and loved lending a hand. While not playing guitar or volunteering for the church Lillian loved to garden and was always arranging flowers and making leis. Lillian was a retired travel concierge for Coco Palms Resort and later volunteered at the Wilcox Medical Center Thrift Shop after Coco Palms closed.
Lillian was preceded in death by parents Frank and Trinda Parraga Sr., brother Frank Parraga Jr., sisters Trinda Kotecki and Helen Machado.
Lillian is survived by husband Manuel Vasques, son David Vasques Sr., sister Sophie Bonilla and grandson David Vasques Jr.
Services will be held at St. Catherine Church on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Visitation at 8 a.m. with eulogy to follow and mass at 9 a.m. Private burial at a later date.
