What? The deadline for grant applications is today? Diana Singh of the county Office of Economic Development (she said her kids like doing flier distributions, too) was out in the field helping farmers make sure grant applications were filled out correctly, and for those who had no access to computers, even brought out her laptop to make sure no one fell through the cracks at the Grove Farm Market Saturday in Puhi.

There also, Mayette Loseto had a fresh crop of “long beans” — they’re at least half-a-yard long! — and Hannah Huang and Glory Farm still have cauliflower (how long did that last one last, Sabrina Bodon?).
Terry Gordines of Tropical Flower Express was getting to sold-out status on orders for Memorial Day flowers (yes, it is a graveyard holiday). Where can you find those “farmers market” collections?
The University of Hawai‘i Manoa Coach Charlie Wade brings some of the men’s volleyball national championship team to Kaua‘i for a celebration Saturday.
OK, time to go check out the Pau Hana Market at KGC.
