LIHU‘E — The Rookies, unbeaten in Kaua‘i Senior Softball League play in the first round, continued to roar with a 12-0 shutout over Solid Steel Saturday at ‘Ele‘ele Park when the league held the second games of the second round.
The win comes following the Rookies’ 19-7 win over Kawaihau to open the second round on May 8.
The Aloha Kia Lihu‘e A’s, losing to Barteks during the opener of the second round, squeaked past the Keonimana Gents, 10-9, in the Saturday matchup at the Isenberg Park in Lihu‘e.
Senior softball action continues Saturday at the Hanapepe Stadium and Kapa‘a (Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex) venues, when the Lihu‘e A’s take on the Islanders starting at 9 a.m. Da Kruzers face off against Da Killas at Hanapepe, with the first pitch going at 9 a.m.
