Congratulations to Kaua‘i Community College Chancellor Joseph Daisy and his massive corps of ‘ohana on hosting the 55th annual Commencement (Gary Elwood said I needed to see Juno Apalla of the Kaua‘i Performing Arts Center, but where was she?) that was held Friday morning (no 7-on-7 football because the Kapa‘a stadium wasn’t ready yet) in a drive-thru format (boy, Daisy put on some steps!) along the front lawn between the Daniel K. Inouye Electronics building and the avenue (gotta keep The Kaua‘i Bus rolling!) separating the parking lots.

Congratulations to all the graduates (yes, the 2019-20 crew was counted, too), including Leianna Rapacon, who was the only female in the automotive technology program, according to Darryl Gerardo (Kelson Andrade – remember him from Pop Warner football? — had some fancy wheels while driving through and accepting his degree from the chancellor).
Brianne Ellis (Tammie Napoleon, Maureen Tabura, Kris Slagle and Dana Gutzman — all angel makers! — had their own cheering line for nursing graduates) was the first graduate to drive-thru, and followed her classmates to the Grove Farm Museum pinning ceremony (nice to remember Mabel Wilcox), where Paul Horner arranged for all the new angels to get a copy of Mabel Wilcox’s book.
Bree Blake of the Mo‘olelo Murals trio of muralists was so busy, commencement slipped right by her during the preview of Lihu‘e Loop (kudos to Bev Brody of Get Fit Kaua‘i and Tommy Noyes for coordinating this massive, family-friendly project!) that just trooped past Kress Street (they got fences shutting down parking now). That was Friday, after 3 p.m.
