HANAMA‘ULU — The Keonimana Gents cranked out four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break a 5-5 deadlock with the Islanders Saturday at the opening games of the second round of Kaua‘i Senior Softball League games at Peter Rayno Sr. Park.
The Gents’ bats continued to blaze hot, as they cranked about another inning-ending five runs in the sixth frame before faltering to errors in the seventh inning that allowed the Islanders capitalize on the miscues for two runs towards the 15-7 Gents’ win.
The second round included the undefeated Rookies continuing their win streak with a 19-7 romp over Kawaihau at the ‘Ele‘ele Field.
Some surprises included the ‘Ohana Mottors Rebels dropping to Solid Steel, 17-12, and the tight competitive edges between the Kruzers getting a run advantage over the Hanama‘ulu Hillsiders, and ‘Ohana starting the round with a “W” in its 11-10 edge in extra innings over Da Killas.
Action continues Saturday at Puhi Park and Isenberg Field in Lihu‘e, with first pitches scheduled to go at 9 a.m.
