PO‘IPU — Allen Reis of McBryde Resources, a Alexander &Baldwin subsidiary, said he has time enough to show all the new energy technology.
Reis and his family were guests, Monday at a special luncheon with his boss, Dan Sargent of McBryde Resources, where Reis was presented with special commendation certificates for his 50 years of service with Alexander &Baldwin, and the community.
“He was the third generation of the Reis family to take care of Pump 3,” said Trinette Kaui of A&B Properties. “Starting with Allen’s grandfather, his father, and then himself, the Reis family took care of Pump 3 for more than a hundred years — until it burned down.”
Collectively, the Reis ‘ohana has provided more than one hundred years to ensure lights stayed on 24/7.
During the course of his employment, Allen has worked for McBryde Sugar Co., Kaua‘i Coffee (where his sister is currently working), and is currently employed with McBryde Resources as an Operations Manager, states the County Council commendation.
“While working for McBryde Sugar Co., Allen was responsible for dispatching all, including multiple sugar plantations, and Kaua‘i Electric diesel, generated electricity onto Kaua‘i’s 57KV transmission grid,” the Council said. “Starting in 1971, his dedication and loyalty to McBryde Sugar Co., Kaua‘i Coffee, and McBryde Resources, Inc. has been instrumental to the success of each organization.”
Kaui became emotional in introducing Allen’s family, including wife Patricia, and the three Reis children — Kevin, Susan, and Christine.
“Not only is Allen a loyal and dedicated worker,” Kaui said. “His past 12 years, he served with the Holy Cross Church in Kalaheo as the Eucharist Minister. He’s a Holy Man, too.”
