Don’t forget to get your seedlings (tomatoes, Japan hot pepper, Hawai‘i hot pepper, green eggplant) that ‘Ele‘ele School student Carmila Udarbe and her mentor Basilio “Bunga” Fuertes will be distributing outside the Gather Federal Credit Union office in the ‘Ele‘ele Shopping Center Saturday. Go early for best selection. They start distributing from 8 a.m.

Koa Ashby had to try a fresh coconut while mom picked up an open-top coconut-frond hat from Adam and Christine Coyaso (they’ve got some exciting news coming up!) Wednesday during the farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula (Stacie Chiba-Miguel had to buy a new shirt because she soiled the one she had on while clearing drains from the afternoon rains).
She obliged visitors Leigh and Sankar Sridaran of San Diego by taking their photo with one of the Coyaso coconuts. The rain moved everyone under the eaves, but that didn’t bother the Eating House 1849 crew, who ran out of food again.
Mark Jones was pumping out those exotic mangosteins, cacao beans and the rare red atemoya that is related to the cherimoya and sour sop, and where is Isobel Storch?
Sam and Margaret Oki from California got to catch up on a trip they had planned before the COVID-19, and they’re coming back later in the fall to hopefully catch up with Daphne McClure of Moloa‘a Bay Coffee. Maybe they have some more fancy tales like the ones of Antarctica when they visited the Kaua‘i Community Market at Kaua‘i Community College in Puhi.
OK, time to go check out Larry Feinstein (Kurt Osaki is supposed to be there too) and the crew at the Kalena Park work day today. Is this part of Earth Day?
