WAIMEA — The bags of “binge-worthy” books are already packed and laid out at the Waimea Public Library.
Assembled by the volunteer Friends of the Waimea Public Library, the bags of books celebrate National Library Week, April 4 to 10.
The bags of books available for a suggested donation of $10 per bag are already being taken, said Casey Agena, library assistant at the Waimea Public Library.
The bags are available beyond National Library Week and through the month of April if supplies last.
Patrons can browse through bags organized by genre, and select from their favorites, including murder mysteries, action and adventure, romance, science fiction, picture books for children, young adult literature, DVDs and more.
“Each bag has at least five used books from the selected genre,” Agena said. “Some of the bags have a little extra, too, like oshibana gift tags, note cards, bonus books, and even gift cards from the Big Save store.”
Located across from Waimea High School on Kaumuali‘i Highway, the library is closed today, the Good Friday holiday, and weekends.
Normal “temporary hours” are Mondays and Wednesdays from noon to 4 p.m. and from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m., and Fridays from noon to 4 p.m.
