“Immediate past president” and “emeritus” are simply titles, say Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank’s volunteers Lloyd Kajikawa (we need to see you and the missus out and about more) and Rowena Cobb (she said she’s a “guest” during the last KIFB board meeting, and the recent Spring Break Food Giveaway coordinated with the help of state Senate President Ron Kouchi and Stephanie Iona of the Kekaha Agriculture Association).

Nah, the inspiration and motivation she provides is true to “emeritus.” Happy retirement, Rowena — no need for “guest” appearances anymore — Donna King is going to keep plugging away with Kelvin Moniz and his ‘ohana!
Happy third anniversary to Coach Z Zumwalt and his ‘ohana of the Flip Flop Shop (the Nirmana team with Seth Womble was hard at work next door at the future Hawai‘iUSA Federal Credit Union offices!) at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e.
That fancy slippah shop survived through the COVID-19 pandemic while also offering free pairs of OOFOS footwear to each member of the Kaua‘i Police Department (if it’s not already on special, everything in the store is offered at a 30% discount through today only in celebration of the anniversary).
Did you realize that Hawai‘iUSA FCU made its debut on Kaua‘i by sponsoring the first-ever slippah drop during one of the Visitor Industry Charity Walks?
And the excitement continues, as kudos go out to Barbara Gusman, Ali Lahip (keep your eye out for the next Malama Pono Health Services benefit!), and all those Sheraton Kaua‘i Coconut Beach Resort (Waipouli) ‘ohana — Mother’s Day is coming up real soon — on hosting the third farmers’ market (yes, Justin Chen was there!) and craft fair with coordination from the county Kaua‘i Made (very nice to see Melissia Sugai and her ‘ohana!) program (how did Solid Steel fare against the Keonimana Gents, Herb Noe?).
OK, time to get an appointment (visit ntbg.org) for the National Tropical Botanical Garden Easter Eggstravaganza Sunday starting at 9 a.m. at the South Shore Visitor Center on Lawa‘i Road in Kukui‘ula!
