You never know what the weather can do, as Dave Lister of StarFM brought the starfish from the canceled Lydgate Park debris cleanup (they’re doing it this Saturday!) to the Keiki Korner at Kukui Grove Center in Lihu‘e Saturday, where members of the Eastside Basketball League wore their team jersies while getting the ocean grab-and-go learning kits from Aaron Swink of the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Aquatic Resources (who wanted to know if they were fish and game?), and Jarrin Shigemura of Spectrum was busy distributing beach-bucket adventure kits (who wanted only the sunglasses?) during the Spring Break Family Fun Day.

Ashley Nagaoka (she’s a Kaua‘i High School grad!) of Hawai‘i News Now had Kaua‘i on the map while waiting for her cameraman (gotta check out those GoPro small guys for effect shots!) to get footage of flood-cleanup efforts (a-ya, Alden Alayvilla, I just left Koloa when he arrived with Mayor Derek Kawakami). Did Ashley run into the Mayor again?), and kudos to Brianne Light (she said Charles was “at home”) on escaping the flood waters (she had to use her broom as a walking stick while moving her car out of the rapidly-rising water!) at her Brianne &Co. jewelry bouitique that just opened for business last Saturday!
Sueoka’s said the sandbags did nothing for the parking lot (Sadie Stiglmeier was scheduled to do Girl Scout cookies there Sunday!), but kept the water from coming into the store. Sadie (she was at a marathon GS cookie booth at the Walmart store in Lihu‘e Saturday!) said she’s down to just three flavors (what? Other scouts are already sold out?) as she gets close to her 2,000-box goal, and should be selling until the end of March.
Finally, Ferdinand Dosono (he added Passion Bakery buns for the Kaua‘i Kim Chee sandwiches!) sold out early of kim chee soup at the Puhi Park Produce on the rainy Saturday.
