The watercress was the magic for Monday-night dinner, lechon-style roast pork (Toto Santos of Papaya’s had a hard time choosing the lumpia over that) from Kaua‘i Family Cafe, the watercress, and tofu from Times Supermarket. What? No potu (Family Cafe had coconut (green), sweet potato (purple) and vanilla (natural) that everyone else was picking up for dessert.
Michelle Panoke of the Hawai‘i Foodbank Kaua‘i Branch was busy signing up vendors to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program debit cards. Where’s that lady who kept saying the Pau Hana Market should accept SNAP?
Melissa McFerrin-Warrack missed out on the pau-hana music from David Pacanas and Frank Cruz because she was busy with Jennifer Ortal making plans for this weekend’s family celebration (Jean Souza said Aaron Swink of the state Department of Land and Natural Fesources Division of Aquatic Resources is working on a real winning grab-and-go learning kit) for the start of spring break and then Easter.
OK, time to go check out the farmers’ market at The Shops at Kukui‘ula and the special Eating House 1849 grinds, and also check out Keoki’s Paradise (the sign says they’re open) and their St. Patrick’s Day special (hint…green boxes of Girl Scout cookies).
