LIHU‘E — The County of Kaua‘i and the state Department of Health announced two additional COVID-19 vaccination clinics for eligible front-line essential workers, offering the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The appointment-only clinics will be held on consecutive Mondays, March 15 and 22, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Kaua‘i War Memorial Convention Hall.
Front-line essential workers who have received an email from the DOH to register for the vaccine and schedule an appointment are eligible for these new dates.
Those eligible and interested must sign up for the “J&J Clinic” on those dates. Those interested and eligible for the two-dose Moderna vaccine should register for the “Moderna Clinic” on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays at KWMCH.
• Those who have received a first dose of Moderna or Pfizer vaccines must complete the second shot with the same vaccine, and are not eligible for the Johnson & Johnson vaccine;
• Those who have upcoming appointments scheduled for a first dose of the Moderna vaccine at KWMCH can cancel appointments and switch to a Monday date offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Log back into VAMS, cancel the appointment, and then reschedule. You would select a Monday “J&J Clinic” rather than a Tuesday-to-Thursday “Moderna Clinic.”
All three vaccines currently approved are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalization or death due to COVID-19, according to the DOH and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The DOH-run vaccine clinic at KWMCH is for only for frontline essential workers who are eligible for vaccine because of their employment. Those who think they may be eligible but have not received an email from the DOH should check with their employers.
If employers are unable to provide eligibility information, complete a brief survey at kauai.gov/vaccine. If there is no within a week via email, you do not meet the current eligibility criteria.
The KWMCH vaccine clinic is an appointment-only clinic.
Kaua‘i hospital clinics and Longs Kapa‘a continue scheduling appointments for kupuna aged 70 and older. Links for kupuna sign-up are available at kauai.gov/vaccine.
Visitors to Kaua‘i are not eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
If you are considering taking a Corona Virus vaccine and have a life insurance policy, you should contact the issuer to make certain that they will cover death caused by a corona virus vaccine. Many life insurance companies will not pay out because the injections are an “experimental medical intervention” that has not undergone the normal testing and vetting process. In the life insurance business, any excuse to deny payment is a good excuse. Better to be safe than sorry.
That is a good idea. I think some of the banks already have their own COVID-19 insurance packets. Pay a monthly bill to the insurer. If someone gets sick, they pay about $1800 dollar per day while the patient is in the hospital. If he dies, that would be another cost. But I’ll bet it goes up to $500,000 dollars or $1,000,000 dollars depending on the coverage and payment plan.
