Fred W. Palacio
Fred W. Palacio passed away on Feb. 16, 2021, at the age of 72, in Kapa‘a. He was born on Jan. 26, 1949, in Lihue. He was U.S. Army Veteran and a Field Worker with McBryde Sugar Company & Olokele Sugar Plantation.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Domingo and Maria Palacio, brothers Ernest Palacio and Augustine Palacio, sisters Gloria Medeiros and Martha Proulx.
Fred is survived by his wife Linda Palacio, son Gary Palacio (Carol) of Delaware, Nevada, daughters Kimberly Cabral of Las Vegas, Nevada, Virginia Pablo (Arnold) of Wailua Houselots, Veronica Pablo (Stuart) of Wailua Homesteads, Sunshine Palacio (Ross) of Kapaa, 14 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, brothers Edwardo Palacio (Marie) of New Jersey, Dennis Palacio of ‘Ele‘ele, sisters Theresa Luis (Kennedy) of ‘Ele‘ele, Shirleen Palacio of Kekaha, Elisa Cline (Robbie) of Virginia Beach, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Walk through visitation at Garden Island Mortuary on March 13, 2021, 10 to 11:30 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Casual attire and flowers welcome. Due to COVID-19, social distancing and masks are required.

Florentino ‘Tono’ Duterte
Florentino “Tono” Duterte of Hanama‘ulu passed away on Jan. 27, 2021, at the age of 84. He was born in Hanama‘ulu, on March 14, 1936. A veteran of the United States Navy he retired with County of Kaua‘i as a heavy equipment operator.
Florentino was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Barino Duterte, parents Marcos and Monica Duterte, sisters Cornelia “Connie” Alfeche, Apolinaria “Annie” Castillo, brothers Pedro “Pete” Duterte Sr. and Lorito Duterte.
Florentino is survived by sons Marcus A. Duterte, Mason Espanto, both of O‘ahu, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private services were held at Kauai Veteran’s Cemetery in Hanapepe.

Anson A. Abalo
Anson A. Abalos passed away on Feb. 12, 2021, at the age of 63, in Waimea. He was born on Dec. 4, 1957, in Waimea. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a Project Manager with Kawailoa Development.
Anson was preceded in death by his father Dominador Abalos, Sr.
Anson is survived by his sons Anthony Abalos of Hanapepe, Aaron Abalos of Pakala, daughter Andrea Abalos (Tiara) of ‘Ele‘ele, mother Amparo Abalos, brothers George Abalos (Karleen) of Kapa‘a, Dominador Abalos, Jr. (Marlyn) of Kapa‘a, sister Allison Hiranaka (Brad) of Lihu‘e, numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A walk through visitation will be held at Garden Island Mortuary on April 3, 2021, from 9 to 10 a.m. There will be a Celebration of life to follow from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Casual attire and flowers omitted. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face masks and social distancing are required.
