Alice (Loio) “Tutu Alice” ‘Ululani Smith, 78, of Hanama‘ulu, passed away on Jan. 11, 2021 at home. She was born in Happy Valley, Wailuku, Maui. She was a dedicated homemaker with many trades. She was the youngest of 16 siblings.
She was preceded in death by daughter Roberta Fernandez and parents Hattie and Samuel Loio of Maui.
She is survived by daughters Suzette Smith and Ta-Vina Smith, sons Erin Smith and Stacy Smith, 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Kaua‘i Memorial Gardens &Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Vernon Lee Kahui‘nalu ‘Kahui’ Kumu‘waina o‘kalani Niau
Vernon Lee Kahui‘nalu ‘Kahui’ Kumu‘waina o‘kalani Niau 34, of Kaua‘i, was born on Sept. 29, 1986, died Jan. 9, 2021 on O‘ahu.
He was preceded in death by parents Lillian “Melia” Niau and Lyle Lee Sperry.
He is survived by children Melia Yoshioka-Niau, Elijah Yoshioka and Sanoe Yoshioka-Niau, and brother Kawai Niau.
A safe, outdoor celebration of life will be at Salt Pond Beach Park Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1 p.m., with the spreading of his ashes to follow.
Dexter Keola Ibaan
Dexter Keola Ibaan, 34, of Lihu‘e, passed away on Dec. 31, 2020. He was born on Kaua‘i on Jan. 14, 1986.
He was preceded in death by sister Jessica Carvalho-Ibaan.
He is survived by children Meleana “Lucy” Manintin-Ibaan, Raiatea “My Crazy” Manintin-Ibaan and Kanai “Hawaiian” Manintin-Ibaan, parents Sonny and Betty Ibaan and Melinda Stout, siblings Eric (Cashie), Derek, Marlon (Trish), Shanlyn, Joshua and Jazmyn Ibaan, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
