HONOLULU —The University of Hawai‘i at Manoa women’s basketball team swept Cal-State Fullerton in back-to-back games Friday and Saturday at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
The Wahine, led by the scoring efforts of Olivia Davies and Jadynn Alexander, squeaked out a 49-47 win in Friday night’s contest.
Davies scored a team-high 17, and Alexander finished the game with 14, which combined for 31 of the team’s 47 points.
Hawai’i led for all but 31 seconds of the game, and their largest lead of the game was 23 points.
The Wahine held the Titans to 27.8% percent shooting from the floor, as they shot 60% percent from the field, which ultimately proved to be a deciding factor in the game.
In Saturday’s game, Hawai’i diversified their scoring.
Alexander, Kasey Neubert and Kelsie Imai all finished in double-digit scoring, and their efforts resulted in a 57-43 victory to complete the sweep over their Big West conference foe.
Once again, the Wahine held the Titans to shooting under 30% from the field for the duration of the game and also held the lead for the entire contest.
One key stat that allowed Hawai’i to win was the team’s free throw percentage.
The Wahine shot 19-of-21 from the charity stripe, and made six 3-point baskets, despite attempting 26 from beyond the arch.
The Wahine will travel to the University of California-Irvine to play a doubleheader at 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
