Pono Kai Resort’s names new GM

Marilyn Solatre is the new General Manager for Pono Kai Resort as of January 15, 2021. Marilyn has been with the Pono Kai O’Hana since 1994, fresh out of college from Kauai Community College with an AS Degree in Accounting. Since then she has held many positions at the Pono Kai Resort such as Accounting Clerk, Office Manager, Accounting and Human Resources Manager and most recently as Assistant General Manager.

Marilyn was mentored by Peter Sit, previous General Manager of Pono Kai Resort, for this position by sending her to several leadership classes. She is an alumni of Leadership Kauai class of 2016, a ten-month mobile classroom program that consists of leadership development and networking through a guest speaker series, professional skills building – critical thinking, decision-making and communications, inter-generational and multicultural bridging in Kaua’i’s unique island culture, global leadership, mentoring, collaboration and community service.

Marilyn has been the charity event coordinator for the resort for the past 18 years and has supported the Charity Walk, Kauai United Way, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Kauai Food Bank, and numerous non-profit organizations in the community. With her knowledge of the resort, her relationships with the team members of Pono Kai and her active role within the local community and industry, Marilyn has prepared herself for this new position. Marilyn would like thank her mentor, Peter Sit and Leadership Kauai Executive Director, Char Ravelo, for helping her gain self-confidence and leadership skills.

Pono Kai Resort Board of Directors and the rest of the Pono Kai Management Team congratulate Marilyn in her new role and look forward to a long and productive working relationship with her as the new Resort General Manager for the Pono Kai.
