LIHU‘E – The Hawai‘i State Department of Health Kaua‘i District Health Office reported two new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, Jan. 16.
Saturday’s cases are adult residents. The source of infection for one case is related to mainland travel, and the other case is community-acquired. All active cases are in isolation, and one case remains hospitalized on O‘ahu. Close contacts are being identified, directed to quarantine, and offered testing.
Saturday’s cases bring the number of on-island active cases to 18, with 202 cumulative cases. Kaua‘i’s cumulative case count includes 174 confirmed locally, one probable, and 27 positive cases diagnosed elsewhere, as they received their pre-travel test results after arriving on island.
