Many thanks to volunteers
The Contractors Association of Kaua‘i was humbled with the partnership forged with the Kaua‘i Independent Food Bank that made possible for 250 shut-in and home-bound seniors to receive deliveries of canned goods and household goods in time for the holiday season.
The CAK is grateful to Sherri Patrick and the Retired Senior and Volunteer Program, who along with their respective volunteers distributed the holiday baskets.
This project would not have been possible without the generous support of CAK members and friends, including Cushnie Construction, the CAK board of directors and Karen Taketa, Conrad and Eloise (Shioi) Murashige, Sherman Shiraishi, Jas. W. Glover, Glover Honsador, Faith and Carl Matsumura, Pacific Concrete Cutting & Coring, N.F. Kawakami, Ltd., Kaua’i Kookie Company, Esaki Surveying & Mapping, Pacific Mirror & Glass, Curtis Law Construction, Crystal and John Contrades IV, Ka‘iwa Construction, Shioi Construction, Earthworks Pacific, Pacific Blue Construction, M&H Painting, HAMCO Glass and Glazing, Kaua‘i Flooring & Interiors, Joel Koetje General Contractor, Fujita and Miura Public Relations, Kodani & Associates, Kaua‘i Island Utility Cooperative, Hawai‘i Medical Service Association, Kukui‘ula Development, Service Rentals & Supplies, Dr. Cathy Tsunehiro, DDS, Dr. Keith Uehara, DDS, and Linda Konishi’s first-grade class at ‘Ele‘ele School.
This project needed dozens of volunteers to pack the bags and get them ready for pick up and distribution, which was all made possible by staff and employees from Hawai‘i Gas, Ka‘iwa Construction, First Hawaiian Bank, Shioi Construction, Kaua‘i Nursery & Landscaping, Service Rentals & Supplies, Earthworks Pacific, Alexander & Baldwin, Pacific Blue Construction, Kaua‘i Kookie Company, Grove Farm Company, Kodani & Associates and Cushnie Construction.
Mahalo, Dennis Fujimoto, for identifying and sharing some of the needs in our community and to Aloha Sweet Delites (formerly Thrifty Mart) and Gay & Robinson for allowing the use of their parking lot in Kaumakani as a distribution point.
Jacquelyn K. Contrades, president, Contractors Association of Kaua‘i
Karen Taketa, executive director, Contractors Association of Kaua‘i
I’d like to piggyback onto this and say thank you to all of the others who’ve continued to keep us going throughout this pandemic. Hospital workers, police, fire, emt’s, teachers, restaurant employees, mail & delivery folks, unemployment workers, National Guard, hotel workers, and to all the store employees that have kept us supplied with food and necessities. If I’ve left anyone out know that you’re appreciated too!
Kudos to the souls that rise to the occasion… and do what needs to be done.. total Respect
