KOLOA — The county Department of Public Works and Goodfellow Bros. LLC announced that sections of Koloa Road and Maluhia Road are scheduled for lane closures from Monday, Jan. 11 to Friday, Jan. 15.
Koloa Road, from Piko Road to Kaumuali‘i Highway, will be under a single-lane closure for shoulder construction and pavement work from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Westbound traffic on Koloa Road will be detoured through Piko Road. Only eastbound traffic will be allowed on Koloa Road, between Piko Road to Kaumuali‘i Highway. Also, Koloa Road, from Po‘ipu Road and Ala Kalanikaumaka, will have a single-lane closure for fire-hydrant installation.
In addition, striping work is scheduled on Maluhia Road under a single-lane closure from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Dates and times are subject to change depending on weather and other factors.
Given the intensity of the work on Koloa Road, eastbound motorists from the Westside, Kalaheo or Lawa‘i are recommended to take Kaumuali‘i Highway to Maluhia Road to access Koloa and Po‘ipu.
‘Oma‘o Road is a narrow, residential road that is not intended to be used as a detour route and not designed for high volumes of traffic or truck traffic. The speed limit is 25 mph for the entire length of ‘Oma‘o Road. Through trucks are prohibited on ‘Oma‘o Road for the duration of this project.
